Senior Basketball Girls Punch Ticket to State Playoffs

“I love basketball because it is so competitive. You have to have grit and determination to be successful.  Basketball is not just fun and games though. You also build bonds with teammates and coaches that last a lifetime,” Sophomore Kyndal Rooks. The Lady Ramblers exhibited this camaraderie and spirit this weekend at the Regional Tournament at Waldron.

The Lady Ramblers have fought hard to be able to continue their season and over the weekend. The first evening they won against Elkins but fell short to Valley Springs and Charleston; finishing 4th for our region. These ladies will be playing in round one of the state basketball tournament in Charleston, Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday’s game will be the Lady Ramblers third appearance at the state tournament in the last four years.

Head Coach Bradley Moss feels that “this has been an incredibly fun tight knit group of girls who have worked extremely hard.”  He believes the team “has some very great senior leadership.” Moreover, Coach Moss is convinced that “this group of ladies deserves to be in the position that they are in this week.”  He concluded stating “at this point of the season anybody can be anybody so you just have to show up with your best and play hard.”

The Lady Ramblers won every game at home this year. The home atmosphere is an integral part of helping to feed the girls excitement and tenacity.  “We would really love to have as many of our students and fans show up to the game and cheer. We want them to get hyped up because it really makes us play harder and want to win even more than we already do,” Senior Captain Caitlin Waggoner. The Rose Bud High School will be taking a pep/fan bus to the game Wednesday.  The bus will leave at 9:00 a.m. and return in the evening. Students who want to ride the pep bus must pay their five dollar admission fee and sign up in the office by noon Tuesday. Students will also need to bring money for lunch on Wednesday. In addition Coach Moss reiterated, “Community and fan support is super important. These girls are going to be far from home and would love to look up in the stands and see a bunch of red and white and familiar faces.”

In conclusion, sophomore Emily Norris stated “basketball is so beneficial to each of us in more ways than just winning games; it is about being a part of something bigger than yourself and working hard for what you want.”

We challenge you, Rambler Nation, make plans to attend the game Wednesday!
